In 95/96 I was also experimenting with a wind turbine project. Maybe you would be interested to see details. These can be found on my homepage .

"Jensa" - A Craft Designed to Sail in Any Direction

There have been many attempts in the past to build a sailing craft that has the ability to sail directly into the wind that drives it. (This is something that is impossible for an ordinary sailing craft.)

Following successful tests with models, and using a new approach, a full size version was built. The design philosophy being one of simplicity, cheapness and reliability. The tests were successful and took place on the River Orwell in 1995/96.

Performance was good, if not spectacular, "Jensa" was able to maintain a speed of 2 to 3 knots directly into a 10 to 15 knot wind.

Speed was about the same on all points of sailing. (For running before the wind, the blades are feathered, and the craft driven by "drag".)
